During the week of December 9 through 15, JPHCS participated in a worldwide movement that aims to introduce students to the fundamentals of computer programming. The one-hour of coding activities, suitable for all grades, empowered students to experiment and create their own projects and share ideas. “We love this program,” says Ms. Agbayani, one of our 3rd grade teachers, “it inspires our students to explore new possibilities and ignite their passion for learning.”
Coding helps expand critical skills like problem-solving, logic, and creativity while also strengthening math comprehension and preparing students for a technology-driven future. By learning to break complex coding problems into smaller, manageable steps, students developed a systematic approach to challenges, gaining confidence as they explore solutions through trial and error. And the kids love it. “It was amazing to see their creativity and teamwork come to life during Hour of Code,” said Ms. Calvi, a member of the 3rd grade team.
